Indeed, the government has updated the rules surrounding the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. Essentially, the date from which an employee can be furloughed has changed from February 28th to March 19th.
Therefore anyone on the payroll by March 19th can now be furloughed.
This should make thousands more eligible for this scheme, who previously were not. We’d recommend having a look at the full government press release.
The government also announced on Friday that the scheme will be extended by 1 month so it will also cover June and today their claims system for employers went live.
